The Remedy Diner - American - Downtown Raleigh

Menu has a specific vegetarian section as well as vegetarian bacon and sausage available at request for the breakfast items and you can add tofu to your salad as an option. They do mention vegan chicken salad a sandwich option, but I am not sure how much of the menu can be made vegan. For dessert, the offer vegan brownies and vegan cookies.

We are trying this restaurant this weekend and will update after that.

Trader Joe's new faux-chicken products

Trader Joe's (Cary location) has been carrying some of their own brand of vegan "chicken strips" and "beef strips", and they are both very good - comparable to the Morningstar Meal-Starters.

They have also introduced BBQ Pulled "chicken". I found it to be rubbery, a little slimy, and not very tasty. A Trader Joe's employee insisted that it is really good if you smother it in their own brand of BBQ sauce, but I just didn't like the texture. I think I'd rather spring for the Delight Soy version at the Whole Foods deli counter.

They also have a new Stuffed "Chicken" Breast product, which we liked a lot. The "Chicken" part of it is disturbingly convincing, it has a nice stuffing of corn and black beans, and a tomato-based sauce that is surprisingly spicy. We'll definitely get those again.

PF Changs Will Substitute Tofu

PF Chang's already has some good veggie options, but if you ask your waiter, they will substitute tofu into most of their other dishes too. We tried Kung Pao Chicken Tofu, which was extraordinary, and Sesame Chicken, which was good but not great.

They asked if we'd prefer the soft tofu or the textured kind. I asked for textured, and got the soft kind anyway, but it is still nice to have a choice if they get it right next time. This was at the SouthPoint location, but I think is available nationwide.
